ST ANDREW CORSINI, PATRON SAINT OF FISHERMEN AND THOSE IN THE FISH INDUSTRY – FEAST DAY: FEBRUARY 4th
St Andrew, a young Florentine of the noble Corsini family, was converted from a sinful life and led to eminent sanctity by divine grace.
He joined the Carmelite Order and soon became Prior of the monastery at Florence and Provincial of Tuscany. Elected Bishop of Fiesole, despite unwillingness, he continued as a bishop his hard penitential life, opposed abuses, and reformed his clergy. He died on the feast of Epiphany, January 6th 1373.
O God, in every age You manifest in Your Church new examples of virtue; grant that Your people may so follow in the footsteps of blessed Andrew, Your confessor and bishop, that they may obtain also his reward. Through Christ our Lord.
