ST ALOYSIUS GONZAGA, RELIGIOUS; MEMORIAL: JUNE 21
St Aloysius was born in 1568 near Mantua as a son of a high court official. At the age of seventeen he entered the Society of Jesus, renouncing his inheritance. He caught the plague while working in a hospital, and died in 1591.
Father of love,
giver of all good things,
in Saint Aloysius you combined remarkable innocence
with the spirit of penance.
By the help of his prayers
may we who have not followed his innocence
follow his example of penance.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
