WHOEVER REMAINS IN ME, WITH ME IN HIM, BEARS FRUIT IN PLENTY (JOHN 15:5)

“I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me, with me in him, bears fruit in plenty; for cut off from me you can do nothing (Jn 15:5).

Intercessions:

To Christ the living vine, we pray:

R. O Lord, come to our help!

You are the vine and we the branches:

– may we always be one in you. R.

You have watered your vine with the living water that flows from the cross:

– may we always live in you. R.

You have nourished and guarded your vine in faithful love:

– may we always bear fruit for your glory. R.

(Personal intentions)

Our Father…

May mercy, peace, and love be ours in abundance. Amen. (cf. Jude 2)

BE VERY CAREFUL ABOUT THE SORT OF LIVES YOU LEAD… (Eph 5:15)

Be very careful about the sort of lives you lead, like intelligent and not like senseless people (Eph 5:15)

Intercessions

To Christ, the Lord of life, we pray:

R. Christ our life, hear our prayer.

For those who seek life by following laws not made by you:

– show them your truth, that they may know you and live. (R.)

For those who feed on false wisdom:

– show them your truth, that they may know you and live. (R.)

For those who long for eternal life:

– show them your truth, that they may know you and live. (R.)

Our Father…

May the country be filled with the knowledge of glory of the Lord as the waters swell the sea. Amen. (cf. Hab 2:14)

“MANNA FROM HEAVEN”: INTERCESSIONS ON THE SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI

Let us rejoice in the Lord Jesus, our Bread of Life:

R. Happy are they who are invited to your table, Lord!

Priest of the new and eternal covenant, you offered the perfect sacrifice on the altar of the cross:
– grant us the grace to offer ourselves in union with you. (R.)

King of justice and peace, you deliver yourself over in the form of bread and wine:
– grant that we may receive you with faith. (R.)

Manna from heaven, you nourish your Church with your body and your blood:
– strengthen us in our journey to the Father. (R.)

Source of life, you give life to all:
– strengthen all parents in their task of bringing to harvest the goodness of those lives for which they are responsible. (R.)

(Personal intentions)

Our Father…

Lord Jesus Christ, in this most wonderful sacrament, you left us a memorial of your Passion, Death, and Resurrection; grant us so to venerate the mysteries of your body and blood, that we may ever find in them the fruit of your redemption, who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE CHURCH IN IRELAND

God of our fathers, renew us in the faith which is our life and salvation, the hope which promises forgiveness and interior renewal, the charity which purifies and opens our hearts to love you, each of our brothers and sisters.

Lord Jesus Christ, may the Church in Ireland renew her age-old commitment to the education of our young people in the way of truth and goodness, holiness and generous service to society.

Holy Spirit, comforter, advocate and guide, inspire a new springtime of holiness and apostolic zeal for the Church in Ireland.

May our sorrow and our tears, our sincere effort to redress past wrongs, and our firm purpose of amendment bear an abundant harvest of grace for the deepening of the faith in our families, parishes, schools and communities, for the spiritual progress of Irish society, and the growth of charity, justice, joy and peace within the whole human family.

To you, Triune God, confident in the loving protection of Mary, Queen of Ireland, our Mother, and of Saint Patrick, Saint Brigid and all the saints, we do entrust ourselves, our children, and the needs of the Church in Ireland. Amen.
– Pope Benedict XVI

PRAYER FOR THE CONVERSION OF ATHEISTS, NEO-PAGANS AND OTHER UNBELIEVERS

Eternal God, Creator of all things!

Do not forget that the souls of atheists, neo-pagans and other unbelievers are also the work of Your hands and that they are made in Your image and likeness too.

Nevertheless, see, Lord, hoe hell is filling up with these souls and how this is offending Your Name. Remember that Jesus Christ, Your Son, shed all His Blood and suffered an atrocious death for them. Therefore, Lord, do not permit that atheists, neo-pagans and other unbelievers despise Your Son anymore. Be appeased and moved to pity by the prayers of Your saints and the Church, which is the spouse of Your most holy Son.

Remembering Your mercifulness and forgetting their idolatry and infidelity, make them also come to know Jesus Christ, our Lord. He is our salvation, life and resurrection, by whom we were freed and saved and to whom honour, glory and praise will be given forever.
Amen.

NOVENA PRAYER TO OVERCOME GAY / LESBIAN TEMPTATIONS AND THE DESIRE FOR HOMOSEXUAL GRATIFICATION

(This prayer is said on nine consecutive days.)

Saint Aloysius, adorned with angelic virtues, I commend to thee most earnestly chastity of (name the person)’s mind and body.

I pray thee, by thine angelic purity, to commend me (him, her) to the Immaculate Lamb, Jesus Christ, and to His most holy Mother, the Virgin of virgins, and to protect me (him, her) from every grievous sin. Permit me (him, her) not to defile myself (himself, herself) by any spot of impurity; and when thou seest me (him, her) in temptation or in danger of sin, banish far from my (his, her) heart every unclean thought and desire.

Awaken in me (him, her) the thought of Jesus Christ and of eternity; imprint deeply in my (his, her) heart a lively sense of the holy fear of God; set me (him, her) on fire with the love of God, and grant me (him, her) the grace to imitate thee on earth, that I (he, she) may enjoy the possession of God with thee in Heaven.
Amen.

PRAYER ON BEHALF OF ALL CHRISTIANS AROUND THE WORLD

We beg You, Master,
be our help and strength.
Save those among us who are oppressed,
have pity on the lowly, and lift up the fallen.
Heal the sick, bring back the straying,
and feed the hungry.
Release those in prison, steady those who falter,
and strengthen the fainthearted.
Let all nations come to know You the one God,
with Your Son Jesus Christ,
and us Your people and the sheep of Your pasture.
Do not keep count of the sins of Your servants
but purify us through the bath of Your truth
and direct our steps.
Help us to walk in holiness of heart,
and to do what is good and pleasing in Your eyes
and in the eyes of our rulers.
Master, let Your face shine on us
to grant us every good in peace,
to protect us by Your powerful hand,
to deliver us from every evil by the might of Your arm,
and to save us from the unjust hatred of our enemies.
Grant to us and to all who dwell on this earth
peace and harmony, O Lord.
Amen.
