AT THE HOUR OF DEATH THE MASSES YOU HAVE HEARD WILL BE YOUR GREATEST CONSOLATION

THE HOLY MASS

At the hour of death the Masses you have heard will be your greatest consolation. Every Mass will go with you to judgment and plead for pardon.

At every Mass you can diminish the temporal punishment due to your sins, more or less according to your fervour.

Assisting devoutly at Mass you render to the Sacred Humanity of Our Lord the greatest homage. You afford to the souls in Purgatory the greatest possible relief.

You are preserved from many dangers and misfortunes which would otherwise have befallen you.

You shorten your Purgatory by every Mass.

Every Mass wins you a higher degree of sanctifying grace here, and glory in heaven hereafter.

You are blessed in your temporal goods and affairs.

When you hear Mass and offer the Holy Sacrifice in honour of any particular Saint or Angel, thank God for the favour bestowed on him, etc., etc.

One Mass heard during your life will be of more benefit to you than many heard for you after your death. Therefore, try to hear Mass every day.

“A DRAUGHT SO SALUTARY THAT IT WILL APPEASE THIS BURNING THIRST”

“OH, MY BELOVED DEAD, COME AROUND THE ALTAR.”

“There is nothing in heaven or on earth greater, holier, more powerful than the holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

The Mass is gold for poor souls, because it is the blood of God, it is Calvary.

Oh, my beloved dead, come then around the altar. When I pray for you, or give alms for you, I do it with some want of confidence, because, perhaps, my intention is not sufficiently pure, nor my heart sufficiently loving. But when I hear Mass for you, when I see on the altar the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, then I feel that I am fortunate, and I address with you the joy of a soul, who is certain of being able to assist those whom it loves.

Are you thirsty? – Come, the Blood of Jesus is a draught so salutary that it will appease this burning thirst, and will open for you the gates of eternity. Come, the meeting place is at the altar!”
