LORD, IF THOU WILT, THOU CANST MAKE ME WHOLE

THE FOLLOWING INVOCATIONS ARE THOSE USUALLY SAID AT LOURDES DURING THE BLESSING OF THE SICK:

We adore thee, O Lord. We hope in thee, O Lord. We love thee, O Lord.

Health of the Sick, pray for us. Mother of our Saviour, pray for us. Mother most pure, pray for us. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.

Let us adore for ever the Most Holy Sacrament.

Blessed be He that cometh in the Name of the Lord.

Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God.

Thou art my Lord and my God.

Hosanna! Hosanna to the Son of David.

Mother of Jesus, pray for us. Mother of the Author of grace, pray for us. Comforter of the afflicted, pray for us.

“Show thyself a mother:

May the Word Divine,

Born for us thine Infant,

Hear our prayers through thine.”

Lord, we believe, do thou increase our faith.

Thou art the Resurrection and the Life.

Jesus, save us, we perish.

Jesus, Son of Mary, have pity on us.

Virgin most powerful with God, pray for us. Virgin most merciful, pray for us. Gate of Heaven, pray for us.

O God, come to our assistance, make haste to help us.

Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me whole.

Jesus, Who hast so loved us, have mercy on us.

Jesus, meek and humble of Heart, have mercy on us.

Jesus, our Refuge, have mercy on us.

Mother of our Saviour, pray for us.

“Spare, O Lord, spare thy people;

Be not angry with us for ever.”

Lord, he whom thou lovest is sick. Lord, let me but see.

Lord, say but the word, and I shall be healed.

Queen of the most Holy Rosary, pray for us.

Blessed be the Holy and Immaculate Conception.

CAN A PERSON BE CURED AT LOURDES IF SHE HAS NO FAITH?

Question: Can a person be cured at Lourdes if she has no faith?

Answer: We cannot place bounds or limits on what Our Lady will or will not do. It is her privilege to intercede for and cure a person who has no faith, just as she intercedes for all those who believe in her son Jesus Christ and who, though weak and sinful, persevere in trying to live according to the teaching of Christ and his Church.”

“A TICKING TIME BOMB” – URGENT TRIP TO LOURDES REQUIRED

‘MORE HARM THAN GOOD’

“The parents of a five-year-old boy with a brain tumour are trying to raise money for a pilgrimage to Lourdes so their son can be blessed before a life-or-death operation.

Harvey Hawkins, from Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, was diagnosed with a colloid cyst six month ago, after being delirious for days and suffering episodes of vomiting. His parents Anita and Neil have so far resisted surgery as an option after they were told that operating on the tumour could cause more harm than good.

‘A LIFE-OR-DEATH OPERATION’

Harvey started showing symptoms just before Christmas, and doctors initially suspected that he had gastritis. However, after he continued vomiting, his mother took him to hospital where he remained for five days. Doctors at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford eventually confirmed that he had a colloid cyst in his brain.

VERY RISKY

Colloid cysts are rare and account for 1.5 per cent of brain tumours. They are not cancerous, but they have the same life-threatening effects as cancerous lumps.

Harvey’s parents have been told that they must wait for the cyst to grow before surgeons have a hope of removing it, as currently it is too small. However, leaving the cyst as it is risks severe brain damage and even sudden death.

PRAYERS NEEDED FOR HARVEY AND HIS FAMILY

Mrs Hawkins described her son as a ‘normal happy little boy, but with a ticking time bomb in his brain’. She [continued]: ‘If you saw him, you wouldn’t think twice that there’s anything wrong with him.’

She said: ‘We just have to wait for the worst to come and then it is a matter of time whether we can save him. It’s very hard to live with.’

Mrs Hawkins added that she ‘prayed constantly through the night and through the day’. She added that every time there was a change in Harvey’s condition they had to rush him to hospital.

INSPIRED BY HER SISTER

Mrs Hawkins said she was inspired to go to Lourdes by her sister, who takes her disabled daughter there every year. The four will travel there at the end of August.

‘We believe in the blessing and we believe in miracles and hope. I want Harvey to have the blessing. I want him to experience the holy water,’ she said.

‘WE BELIEVE IN MIRACLES AND HOPE’

Mrs Hawkins is trying to raise £1.700 for the trip. So far her and her husband have raised £700 from hosting fun days in their garden, with bouncy castles, barbecues and face painting. Donations can be made out by cheque to Anita Hawkins, c/o The Catholic Herald…”
