PSALM 15 – CONSERVA ME, DOMINE

PSALM 15 – CONSERVA ME, DOMINE

Psalm 15 (Psalm 16)

Christ’s future victory and triumph over the world and death.

The inscription of a title to David himself.

Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put my trust in thee. I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods.

To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.

Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste.

I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.

The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me.

The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me.

I will bless the Lord, who hath given me understanding: moreover, my reins also have corrected me even till night.

I set the Lord always in my sight: for he is at my right hand, that I be not moved.

Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt thou give thy holy one to see corruption.

Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.

Psalm 15. Ver. 1. “The inscription of a title. That is, of a pillar or monument… which is as much as to say, that this psalm is most worthy to be engraved on an everlasting monument.

TODAY’S PSALM (PSALM 15)

R. O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup.

1. Preserve me, God, I take refuge in you.
I say to the Lord: “You are my God.”
O Lord, it is you who are my portion and cup;
it is you yourself who are my prize. (R.)

2. I will bless the Lord who gives me counsel,
who even at night directs my heart.
I keep the Lord ever in my sight:
since he is at my right hand, I shall stand firm. (R.)

3. And so my heart rejoices, my soul is glad;
even my body shall rest in safety.
For you will not leave my soul among the dead,
nor let your beloved know decay. (R.)

ALLELUIA

Alleluia, alleluia!
Open my eyes, O Lord, that I may consider
the wonders of your law.

TODAY’S PSALM (PSALM 84)

R. To you our praise is due in Zion, O God.

1. You care for the earth, give it water,
you fill it with riches.
Your river in heaven brims over
to provide its grain. (R.)

2. And thus you provide for the earth;
you drench its furrows,
you level it, soften it with showers,
you bless its growth. (R.)

3. You crown the year with your goodness.
Abundance flows in your steps,
and in the pastures of the wilderness it flows. (R.)

ALLELUIA

Alleluia, alleluia!
Accept God’s message for what it really is:
God’s message, and not some human thinking.
Alleluia!
