PRAYER TO ST LOUIS

SAINT LOUIS OF FRANCE, KING, PATRON SAINT OF BARBERS AND HAIRDRESSERS; MEMORIAL: AUGUST 25

Saint Louis was born in 1214; he became King of France in 1226. Louis belonged to the Third Order of Saint Francis, and his life was governed by penance, prayer, and love and service of the poor. He had 11 children, and was a good father to them; he was a just and considerate ruler. He died while on Crusade to the Holy Land, near Carthage, in 1270.

PRAYER:

Father,
you raised Saint Louis
from the cares of earthly rule
to the glory of your heavenly kingdom.
By the help of his prayers
may we come to your eternal kingdom
by our work here on earth.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
